OpenOffice
 OpenOffice.org the product is a multi-platform office productivity
suite. It includes the key desktop applications, such as a word
processor, spreadsheet, presentation manager, and drawing program, with
a user interface and feature set similar to other office suites.
Sophisticated and flexible, OpenOffice.org also works transparently
with a variety of file formats, including those of Microsoft Office. Available in over 45 supported languages with more being constantly
added by the community, OpenOffice.org runs stably and natively on
Solaris, Linux (including PPC Linux), Windows, Mac OS X, and
numerous other platforms. download
AbiWord  AbiWord is a free word processing program similar to Microsoft Word. It
is suitable for typing papers, letters, reports, memos, etc. It is
designed to integrate perfectly with the operating system it runs on.

Scribus
Scribus offers up a freeware desktop publisher that lacks the polish
of more popular, pay-for-use programs. What it lacks in pretty design,
though, it more than makes up for with a full complement of useful
features that compare very favorably against more expensive
competition. The detailed Web site includes a wealth of
documentation, tutorials (some with video), and notes on everything
from installation problems to drawing a grid to creating a text frame.
We found it an invaluable resource when testing the application. There
wasn't much jazz to the interface, but all the major beats were
present: buttons were laid out logically and grouped according to
function, without any unusual placement. download
Notepad2
 Is a small, light-weight, fast, free and open source
Notepad-like text editor with syntax highlighting for HTML and other
common languages and many other useful features, including drag and
drop, regular expression search and replace, brace matching, line
numbers, keyboard shortcuts, whitespace display, zooming and more.
Notepad2 offers support for Unicode, UTF-8, Unix and Mac text files.
It's based on the Scintilla source code editing component and works on
NT-based versions of Windows. This program can be run out of the box
without installation, and does not touch your system's registry. download
doPDF
 doPDF is a free PDF converter for both personal and commercial use.
Using doPDF you can create PDF files by selecting the "Print" command
from virtually any application. With one click you can convert your
Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint documents or your emails and
favorite web sites to PDF files. doPDF is a free PDF converter, it is
not a PDF viewer. To view PDF files you will need the free Adobe
Reader. Using doPDF you can freely convert documents to searchable PDF files
from any Windows application. It installs as a printer driver and helps
you generate the PDF files by simply selecting the "print" command from
any application (you can convert your Word documents, Excel sheets,
PowerPoint presentations, AutoCad drawings, company's reports,

Notepad++
 Notepad++ is a free source code editor (and Notepad replacement), which
supports several programming languages, running under the MS Windows
environment. It also gives the extra functionality to define a user's
own language for the syntax folding and syntax highlighting. You can
print your source code in color. It allows a user to edit the different
document in the same time, and even to edit the same document
synchronizely in 2 different views. It supports full drag and drop. download
RJ TextEd
 A Unicode source and text editor. RJ TextEd is a full
featured text and source editor with Unicode support, syntax
highlighting and code folding. The functionality extends beyond text
files and includes support for HTML editing with integrated preview,
spell checking, auto completion, HTML validation, templates and more.
The program also include support for Topstyle Lite CSS editor, has a
dual pane file commander, as well as a FTP client to upload your files.
The editor uses language files to display menus and dialogs in
different languages. There are several included languages. New language
files can easily be created in the editor. RJ TextEd is also a simple
web development tool. The editor can use auto completion and hints to
assist you in editing your source code. download
PSPad Editor
 Is a programmers editor with support for multiple syntax
highlighting profiles. It comes with a hex editor, CP conversion, text
differences, templates, macros, spellcheck option, auto-completion, and
code explorer. The program is pre-configured for the most popular
programming languages (like Visual Basic, C++, SQL, PHP, ASP, and
Python) and you can further customize the syntax settings. The editor supports many file types and languages,
with syntax highlighting. There are macros, clip files and templates to automate repetative

OmniFormat
 Is a free document conversion utility which allows dynamic
conversion and image manipulation of over 75 file formats including
HTML, DOC, XLS, WPD, PDF, XML, JPEG, GIF, TIF, PNG, PCX, PPT, PS, TXT,
Photo CD, FAX and MPEG. OmniFormat supports Optical Character
Recognition (OCR) and may also be used to convert images and documents
to rights managed PDF files. The OmniFormat OCR Module enables
OmniFormat to automatically convert scanned images to text when the TXT
output format is selected in OmniFormat. The OCR Module will process
all import formats handled by OmniFormat. It can also extract text from

click it to start and then click open button to open your PDF document.

Sunbird
 The Sunbird Project is a redesign of the Mozilla Calendar component.
The goal is to produce a cross platform standalone calendar application
based on Mozilla's XUL user interface language. Sunbird is the
standalone form of the Mozilla Calendar. Both use the same base code so
their functionality is the same and they share the same bugs and bug
fixes. The intended user is someone who uses Mozilla Firefox and
Mozilla Thunderbird and wants a calendar application based on Mozilla. download
Free PDF to Word Converter
 Shares many things in common with its
competitors besides a similar name. There are some useful features here
that try to address the various needs and permutations of PDFs, but it
struggles to get a final output that looks perfect. There's no drag-and-drop support, but the program can
batch-convert PDFs without being restricted to specific folders. You
can also customize your output folder, and choose a destination format
in RTF or DOC. There's support for high levels of security, with space

 Is a Tutorial and Presentation creation software, primarily aimed
at creating tutorials on how to use software (like a tutor for
MS-Word/Excel etc). Using Wink you can capture screenshots, add
explanations boxes, buttons, titles etc and generate a highly effective
tutorial for your users. This is a good example of how you can create tutorials in Wink, by
capturing screenshots, mouse movements and specifying your own
explanations with them. And all this in a standard Windows-based UI
with drag-and-drop editing makes it very easy to create high quality

Jarte Free Word Processor
 The first thing users of this freeware WordPad/Notepad replacement
will notice is the unusual interface. Jarte actually uses a simple
layout, with a default brushed-metal skin and mouse-over icons that
reveal standard Menu bar drop-down menus. Just the mere fact of having something different to look at
is appealing, and generally it works well. The icons are a bit small,
and there's a fair bit of empty space around them so they look somewhat
bereft of context. It turns out Jarte has two other interface
schemes. One is an expanded "classic" layout, while the other is a
minimalist and familiar Menubar. Behind these different approaches lies
many familiar writing and note-taking tools bolstered by small tweaks
that make Jarte's appeal obvious. download
Stickies Stickies is a PC utility written to replace Post-It-style notes left
stuck to your monitor. The design goal behind Stickies is that the
program is small and simple. Stickies will not mess with your system
files, or write to the Registry. Stickies stores all information in a
single text-based INI file. Stickies will never support animated
dancing figures, or play "Greensleeves". They are instead yellow
rectangular windows onto which you can put some text notes. Once
created, they will stay on screen until you take them away. Just like a
real sticky piece of paper. download
